A Political Holiday

I am very frustrated being politically correct during the Christmas Holiday.

During Christmas holiday, businesses, shopping cart pedestrians, bell ringing

Salvation Army volunteers and even the President of United States of America, all need

to act politically correct. Everyone around are now saying “Happy Holidays,” or

“Seasons Greetings,” instead of “Merry Christmas”. Christmas celebrates the birth of

Christ. I know not everyone practices Christianity in United States and our country is the

most diverse melting pot in the world. I don’t go to church on Sundays and my parents

did come from another country but I still celebrate Christmas. So is the main reason we

all have to be politically correct because of other people beliefs? Maybe we should

remove “Christ” from “Christmas” and end with just “mas” or you can say “Mess”

Variety of people across the nation, all celebrated the word “Christmas” until a few years

ago, making our society politically correct.

I’m amazed at how quickly people adapt to be politically correct. I guess I cannot

adapt as quickly as others. How can I discard my memories, waking up as a child on

Christmas day, running down the steps, rushing to the glittering Christmas tree, ripping

the shiny wrapping paper off my Christmas presents, listening to “It’s a White

Christmas,” and eating my favorite Christmas cookies with the red sugar on top. This

politically correct way of living has change the word “Christmas”. But times have

changed; kids are now waking up on a holiday, rushing to a holiday tree, opening

holiday presents, listening to “It’s a White Holiday,” eating holiday cookies with plain

sugar on top that has no color resemblance with Christmas . Where did Jesus go? Lets not

forget about being politically correct in businesses.
