​Properly analyzing the correct market structure will give businesses the potential to affect positively businesses or firms long-term. Developing business knowledge of competitors and the competiveness of the marketplace can create long-term profitability. Kathy Kudler, of Kudler Fine Foods, has hired Mason Strategies as a consultant to perform a market analysis of the organization. Mason Strategies will review the competitive strategies of Kudler Fine Foods and perform a marketing overview of the organization.

Background

​Kudler Fine Foods is a high-end gourmet food store chain in the state of California. Kathy Kudler opened the first store in 1998 in La Jolla, followed by the Del Mar store and the Encinitas location. Kudler has a passion for gourmet foods; not just the food, but the whole entire experience of gourmet cooking. Each location features a wide variety of foods along with culinary specialists, such as butchers, wine stewards, and bakers. This unique niche sets the organization apart from competitors in the area; however, it does not guarantee success for the locations. Although the La Jolla location is thriving with business, the Encinitas and Del Mar locations are not performing as expected. Mason strategies will review the competitive markets, identify market structures, and recommend competitive strategies for Kudler Fine Foods to initiate.

Marketplace Analysis

​Kudler Fine Foods, as an organization, finds itself in a conundrum in the marketplace. The company has performed a decent job in evaluating the locations of the grocery stores. However, because of unforeseen changes in the markets of the locations, only one store is performing at or above expectations. The La Jolla location is performing well enough to carry the other two locations while Kudler looks to consolidate Del Mar with a future location in Carlsbad.
