Introduction

The organization that I chose was Chicago State University. It is located on the south side of Chicago, Illinois. It first opened in 1867, and has become a staple in the community as well as the city. Chicago State University has an enrollment of students at approximately 7,200. With this amount of students, there are a wide variety of majors available. The university has five colleges that include: Health Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, and Pharmacy. Chicago State University offers 36 undergraduate and 25 graduate degree programs. There are also community programs and courses that they offer to reach out to the community.

My role in the organization at Chicago State University is alumni. I am a Computer Science graduate with my Bachelors. My role is only as a former student. I have been at Chicago State University from 2007-2010. Even though I did not work there to understand how their business side works, I am familiar with some aspects on viewing how the university works from the outside. Chicago State University has come under fire in the past few years with how certain employees were acting. One past president was having a driver pick her up from her home and drive her to school. This was being paid by the school funds. Another incident occurred in which the school hired a basketball coach but failed to run a background check on him. It turned out that he lied on his resume and never graduated from college to have to credentials to be a coach. In the most current past months, the school has come under fire for losing their accreditation. This stirred up a lot of worry in the students. The school ensured the students on their website and in person that they school would not be in jeopardy of losing it. The most recent issue that I will address is how the Financial Aid Department in the university...
