Organizational behavior is an interdisciplinary field (including: psychology, sociology, organization theory, social psychology, statistics, anthropology, economics, information technology, political science, vocational counseling, ethics, just to name a few) that is both research and application oriented, dedicated to better understanding and managing people at work. Though I have been out of the workforce for better than twenty years, not counting the years I have/am serving on different Boards of Directors of Not-For-Profit Organizations. Theory Y is a modern and positive set of assumptions about people, believing managers could accomplish more through others by viewing them as self-energized, committed, responsible, and creative. Disability Rights North Carolina, the Protection and Advocacy Systems Administrators for the rights and security of people living with disabilities within our state, puts this theory to practice. Though we have a pretty substantial annual budget, it truly is not enough. Our Board of Directors, Exec. Dir., Dir. of Litigation, Chief Program Officer, CFO, HR person, lawyers, advocates, and office personnel are always holding group meetings, team meetings, and power sessions to generate new ideas and strategies to get more out of the funds we have as a P&A. This takes cooperation, collaboration, and team work to accomplish our objectives.
Realizing that though our teammates are seasoned veterans we have only been the P&A since July 2007 when then Governor M. Easley appointed us to the position.
