Decision-Making Process Paper

The decision-making process is a long thought out process if done in a right way. With logical thinking, then the decision at hand can help a person be very successful in the choices that this person makes. The decision I am covering is the decision to change jobs. I changed jobs a little over a year ago and without the decision-making process, I probably would not have made the choice that I did. The job that I left was a hotel job that I was unhappy with. The job that I chose to go to is a job at Dunkin Donuts.

First, let’s cover the steps that I followed in making this decision. The decision-making process steps are as follows:

1. State the Problem

2. Identify Alternatives

3. Evaluate the Alternatives

4. Make a Decision

5. Implement Your Decision (Business Analysis Made Easy, 2012)

State the problem is a simple way of saying that a problem is present and that is why a decision is being made. Identify alternatives is the analysis part of the process. A person must make a list of pros and cons to help with the decision-making process. Evaluating the alternatives is talking over the alternatives that have been selected. Is a decision really worth it if there are more cons than pros? Making a decision is finally deciding on the choice that you are sure about making. Finally, implementing your decision is following through with the decision that was made.

The decision making model in five steps shows a logical structured methodology for making a decision (Business Analysis Made Easy, 2012). I was not very happy with the job that I was in at a hotel working second shift at the front desk. A friend of mine had called and asked me if I would be interested in a job at the Dunkin Donuts that she was managing in a nearby town. A decision needed to be made at that point.
