Enterprise Systems

In defining enterprise systems when it comes to technology and business, one might say that an enterprise system is a collective set of various applications that assist managers with information, technology, and large computer systems. This would be putting it lightly. The utilization of operating systems allows for computer security, data information system usage, data integration, e-mail systems, as well as the computer system itself. Basically, it is a cross-fuctional tool.

Large organizations have a great need for this type of set-up with the increased usage the e-commerce highway. It is necessary to have a system that does it all. One of the organizational functions provided in enterprise systems are IT governance. The tools needed to do so are embedded in the applications already. As with any business organizations such as public companies, management and accounting firms their business applications and procedures need to be able to run things as smoothly, efficiently and with as much security as possible.

Operational excellence can achieved using enterprise systems. The premise for this being, it is an asset to Chief Executive Officers in aiding in decision making. Information needed to keep up with the ongoing trends of the internet must be stored, accurate, and verified. This type of system helps them to not only find and keep information but to know what needs to be thrown away. What’s more is that these applications possibly eliminate error. Errors occur when managers and other members of organizations must go from one application to another. These applications may not be compatible and cause errors. Worst case scenario, they could cause a loss of information, slower productivity, and even a crashing system. Having a good enterprise system can lead to operational excellence since it elevates most of these problems.
