Gambling for Texas

The age old question always seems to be, “is gambling good for our State?” The State of Texas has wrestled with this question for years. With Texas being one of 47 states to have scratch off lottery tickets, why not just jump in and except gambling as a whole. Can Texas help itself out by introducing other forms of gambling like Texas Hold’Um, Blackjack, Roulette, Slot Machines, and Poker? Should Texas be joining the other states that have excepted gambling into their communities, or are the risks too high for Texas to throw its hands in with other lottery states? The Texas Lottery seems like a dream come true to most people, a way to make it big without doing more than scratching a lottery ticket. Gambling States show gains in income to their state, but also show a rise in crime. Many other factors play into the gambling scene for example, is it morally right or wrong? How much does it really help our state? Who really profits from gambling casinos being put into a community? The positives and negatives are open to view from both sides of the argument, so let’s take a look and see if gambling can really benefit Texas, or is it just a waste of time for the state.

Texas being the largest of the United States would seem to be the most beneficial state to have gambling. There is plenty of room to keep casino’s far away from residential neighborhoods, and this should keep most zoning officials happy for the most part. Then there are the people who want the gambling casinos in their neighborhoods, and are they viewing the big picture? Is it really worth it to have a casino in your neighborhood, or should you just save your money, and visit Las Vegas for a vacation gambling trip?
