Intro
Just like all the other girls, while growing up I dreamt of having a perfect wedding one day; a beautiful princess like dress and a handsome guy in a tux. Weddings in Serbia are so extreme that they last up to a week sometimes. With many ridiculous traditions that come with traditions, Serbian weddings are filled with songs and special cakes that sometimes are made in a hundred different varieties. And yes, those weddings always made my heart stop. Therefore, I am glad I have an opportunity to conduct a research about that special moment within five different religions. While I am still waiting for that perfect day in my life, people around the world are celebrating the uniting of two human beings in many different ways.
What defines culture is its tradition; the way people live, love and breathe. That tradition is influenced by religion, so you could say that everything starts with a belief in something.
No matter what or who we choose to believe in or worship, marriage is seen as a beautiful moment within all religions; the uniting of two souls that can share lives and give life to other human beings. Creating a family is meant to be our purpose in life, and without it, seeking to fulfill life is a long, dead end road.
Researching about marriages within different religions I learned that overall, they all have the same purpose; to unite two souls.
Christian Wedding Ceremony
In Christianity, the wedding ceremony is open to personal design, as the Bible gives no specific guide on how one should be celebrated, and thankfully there is a lot of room for creativity. Obviously, every good Christian in their wedding ceremony will include expression of worship, joy, respect, community and love for all. The important aspect of any Christian wedding is that it is made clear to guests that you as a couple are making a vow before God.
