* John’s Section: Describe the results of your test, and explain how the findings from this hypothesis testing can be used to answer your research question.

The results of our hypothesis test successfully answer our research question at a 95% confidence interval by giving direct evidence based on the square feet of the houses in each township. Using the fours step hypothesis, data from each township was collected. Step one was easy enough, state the hypothesis: is the square feet of the houses in township 1 and township 5 the same or not? The hypothesis would be rejected if T did not equal 2.03, which gave 34 degrees of freedom. After specifying the decision rule and calculating the test statistic, a final decision could be made based on the findings. The data collected clearly shows a considerable difference between the median square footage of townships 1 and 5. Not only did township 5 have higher square footage, it even had a smaller sample size than township 1. Township 1 had 20 houses while township 5 only had 16. The standard deviation for township 1 was 203.7 while township 5 had a standard deviation of 260.04. Given the evidence found in the data collection, a decision was able to be made after a quick review of the findings. That decision directly answers the research question by stating that there is sufficient evidence at a 5% level of significance to suggest the two townships do not have the same square footage.
