a. A farewell speech

Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are all here gathered for this very special occasion and a bitter-sweet occasion it is to us. It's very sad to be saying goodbye to Mr Tan Lim Kang (Mr Tan) who is closing ten years of his services with our Company as a Managing Director.

I will like to congratulate Mr Tan for his new role with a multinational company in Singapore. I have admired and look up to Mr Tan, in my 3 years with the Company. He had this ability in him where he influence people, motivate them to find the best solution when they face challenges. He even encourages the team members to set up goals and help them to achieve. He have a sense of direction and a vision for the group and its members.

I have come across few leaders who know their own skills and effectively deploy them. You were one step ahead. You were aware of the strengths and short comings of the team member. You help team members to contribute using their strengths and overcome the short comings using training and your guidance.

You possess intelligence, alertness and listening skills, required to manage teams. You use your knowledge every time, remain alert with eyes open, listen to suggestions from the members and implement them for the betterment and growth of everyone.

Thank you, for all the support, guidance, help, freedom, appreciation and opportunities you provided for my growth both professionally and personally.

Two years ago, when I decided to change department, you gave me the opportunity to work in your department. My efforts were noticed and rewarded within a year. I was offered a leadership role. You helped me to build the team by providing your valuable inputs. At first, I was lack of confidence in myself but with your words of courage and faith in me, I was able to assist my team. You were reachable whenever I wanted your help, support and guidance.
