Kudler Fine Foods human resource information systems (HRIS) are severely outdated. In today’s rapidly changing economy and fast paced technology, there is almost no reason to use paper in a business. Once a paper form is filled out, someone else must input the data into a system. There are a great number of potential technology solutions to help out or replace current outdated HRIS.

One of the main things Kudler Fine Foods needs is an automated database to hold employee files. Currently most files are paper and must be filed or input to a digital system. A simple automatic time clock would negate the need for employees filling out time sheets manually each week (Kudler Fine Foods, 2011). If each employee could be issued a password or ID to clock in, each time could be recorded instantly. This would eliminate the need for manager approval and eliminate almost all corrections. It would also eliminate the need to fax records to accounting. With the time being entered electronically, a better system could compile all of the data for accounting and payroll.

Management also could reduce time and errors by having files in a central database. “Each store manager has all of the employee files for the employees in the store — there is no central file area. These are kept in a locked file and typically include the following information:

• Job application/résumé

• Performance reviews (if there were any)

• I-9 forms

• Any disciplinary memos or performance management issues (Kudler Fine Foods, 2011). ”

If all of these files are electronic from the start then they could be in the database from the beginning. With managers doing much of their own hiring there is a need to have a database to hold applications. This would allow a system to be put in place to rate each applicant as well as their strengths and keep track of the top not hired applicants.
