Able Corporation S.W.O.T Analysis

In order for the strategies of a company to be effective in moving the organization closer towards reaching its goals, they must be formulated based on a thorough internal and external analysis of the organization itself, as well as the environment in which it is operating. These strategies themselves can effectively be defined as principles that guide actions and decision making based off of an alignment between the organization’s capabilities and resources, and the opportunities and threat presented by the environment (Coulter, 2008). Therefore, if these internal and external factors are not carefully and accurately examined, the result will be magnified in the formulation and implementation of ineffective strategies. Therefore, one of the foundations of Able Corporation’s strategy and overall business plans is the internal and external analysis, also known as an analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (S.W.O.T.).

Regarding the internal analysis, the purpose is to identify what resources and capabilities the company does or does not have, and what characteristics add or detract from the overall effectiveness of the company (Coulter, 2008). The goal is that the strategies and plans that are to be formulated focus on taking advantages of strengths while also looking for ways to improve or mitigate weaknesses (Perreault & McCarthy, 2008). After careful examination, the internal portion of Able Corporation’s S.W.O.T analysis is as follows:

Strengths

* History - Able Corporation has been around for a long period of time and has had the opportunity to work through the incredible technological advances since the advent of power tools.
