As rightly put by a wise man, “A few wholehearted, sincere, energetic men and women can do more in a year than a mob can do in a century.” The quote clearly stresses on the importance of good governance and management and how we can achieve through them. A mob can never manage things properly or can hardly do anything constructive, but on the other hand only a handful of people with the above mentioned qualities can do so much.

The given statement itself is an irony on the present scenario because in spite having a glossy picture i.e. abundant food grain stocks and ample amount of foreign exchange reserves, 26% of the total population is still far away from the basic necessities.

First of all we need to understand that does having enough resources or abundant supply of necessary commodities solve the problem. And if yes, then we should have been a developed nation by now because we have both abundant food grain stock and ample foreign exchange! And we are not which clearly states that the simple availability of anything doesn’t solve the issue but proper management of it does. Moreover the best option would be to channelize it in the right direction because scattered efforts wouldn’t lead us anywhere.

Availability of food is one of the important things for survival and also a basic human right. And if a government is not able to provide this basic fibre of life then all talks of GDP growth and of fast growing economy are of no use.

When 7000 people die every day of hunger and villagers still brand their children to ‘cure’ them of hunger, then we desperately need our godowns to be full and statistics show that we do produce enough to feed our ever exploding population.
