The War of Resistance against Japan and the Civil War

The War of Resistance against Japan was a war in which China resisted the invasion of Japan from July 7, 1937 to September 2, 1945. The main battlefield was in mainland China and the north of Burma. The War of Resistance against Japan is also known as the Eight Years' War of Resistance, War of Resistance, or Second Sino-Japanese War. From July 7, 1937 to September 2, 1945, it was calculated that up to 35 million people died or were injured in China and the cost was up to 600 billion dollars. However, shortly after the end of the war, China fell into a Civil War again. China experienced a chain of unfortunate wars from the Mukden Incident, Marco Polo Bridge Incident, Asia- Pacific War, and the Civil War. This paper is going to discuss about the reason for the war of resistance against Japan and the Civil War, the effect on China, who helped China during the war, and the factors of the Civil War.

In 1931, China and Japan fought each other. The reason is because Japan launched the Mukden Incident which was a military conflict and political event by Japanese Kwantung Army and Chinese Army. Also, Japan used the Mukden Incident as an excuse to occupy Shenyang. This was after China bombed the southern Manchuria railway which was built by Japan. From the Mukden Incident, conflicts between China and Japan had increased. On July 7, 1937, Japan launched other fighting which was called the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, which Japan wanted to find “a missing soldier” at midnight, but China refused their request. Nevertheless, the Marco Polo Bridge Incident became the exploding point of the War of Resistance against Japan. The reason is China refused the Japanese request and then Japan launched the attack on Marco Polo Bridge on July 8, 1937.
