Homework “0” – Applying Principles

A. Combination of Principle number #1 and # 4

* #4: People have goals, and tend to be rational in pursuit of those goals

In deciding to pursue my MBA degree recently, I really have to take smart and sharp choices within a short period of time. I have been interested to continue this study for about 3 years now and finally this year I decide to make a move.

I arrived in the US earlier this year in March, for the purpose to visit my sister who just had a baby here.  At the same time, I have been talking to friends learning their experience as well as reading in bookstores, about how to sustain growth in family business, which I am currently working for in Indonesia.

As my thought expanded, I spoke to my sister regarding my interest in pursuing an MBA degree, in order to prepare better for my future business in Indonesia.  I discussed with her about looking for a school that is similar to my undergraduate school that has a high ratio between teachers and students along with a similar Christian value.  I graduated from Messiah College, a four year Christian college in Pennsylvania with a Mathematics degree in 1998.

My sister who is a NCSU (North Carolina State University) graduate of 2003, along with her friends recommended me to learn more about Meredith College. They shared with me how Meredith is similar to Messiah College.  Following my visit to Meredith College and attending their information session, I was interested both in their program and their campus environment.

So I decided to apply to Meredith College and prepared my GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) as one of the requirements.  However, time is very short.  After the first try, I was not able to do well, then within a month I tried again for the second time.  This time I was able to achieve a sufficient score...
