As I am a very emotional and sensitive person, taking care of a patient with cancer would be very hard for me personally. Being a nurse, I completely understand the significance of perception regarding quality of life and health promotion that I must have to build an effective attitude to provide care to the cancer patients..

Services provided by nurses are very significant and probable to increase the positive effects on a person during treatment. This means that a community nurse needs to know the fact that his or her positivity can lead into effective health measure for the patients. This is important because every patient has a different measure of suffering which needs care and particular action plan.

It is more important for the nurses to keep a proactive approach in helping the patients who are suffering from diseases that are lingering. The case of Mrs. has proven to be a critical case where the patient continues to stay depressed. Mrs. has family issues, as her children are not able to visit or take care of her mother. Therefor, a nurse has to play a role of a family and an educator who would not just put the patient to comfort but also give support during the moments of extreme pain (Yarbro, Wujcik, & Gobel, 2010).

Three strategies that I could use to improve the quality of life for Mrs. and her husband during this illness are physical activities, creating relationships, and having a logical and proactive partner.

I believe that Mrs. should live her final days doing what she enjoys most as long as her health can hold up to the activities. As a community nurse, I would set a chart for the couple by helping them in exercise. Mrs. needs to walk and do physical activity so that she can keep up with the blood flow and also her muscle inactivity.
