As we all know, the Republic of Austria is a landlocked country in central Europe, which is close to Hungary, Slovakia, Italy, Slovenia, Liechtenstein and Switzerland. The total land area of Austria is 83,871 square kilometers, which has 70% mountain area. The Alps covers 2/3 of the area of the country. Therefore, Austria is a famous hilly country. Austra’s market economy, industry and agriculture are more developed; the GDP is 33,800 Euros per capital. The main industry are metallurgy, machinery, petroleum, chemical, electrical and hydropower. And the main animal husbandry are cattle and pigs. Potatoes, sugar beets, wheat and corn are the most famous crops in Austria. Mozart chocolate and wine are well known all over the world. The main wine producing areas are in Burgenland, Styria and Vienna. Austria is one of the EU countries, therefore, the currency is the Euro, and the ratio is about 1 euro to 1.2410 dollar.

Austria’s sports strength is in the Winter Olympics, especially some sports on the snow. In the Summer Olympics, Austria may not good at it, but it still has opportunity to win, especially in the Men’s 200 meters backstroke, double sailing and table tennis. Skiing in Austria is a popular sport, and its skiing achievements are world-class. The Austrian national football team was built in 1902, which belong to the Austrian Football Association. In the 1930s, Austria is the best team all over the world; people revered it as a “dream team.” Although it didn’t achieve champion in the important events, it has seven times in the World Cup.

In addition, Austrians are very interested in sports, but was not positive enough to participate in sports activities, the survey showed that only 40% of population joins in sports regularly. Austria’s sports are not come forward by the national organization, instead by non-government at all levels of the sports. By the way, Federal government will provide them financial support.
