Creating Organization Units

Before you even begin to enter user names into the groups you must create the group units. In this case will need four units for the different departments represented by the company employees. There is the research, education, manufacturing , and sales departments. To create an organization unit we need to right click the ACMExx.COM domain, select the new option, and the select Organization Unit option. In the Name dialog box we would input the desired group name and then click the OK button to submit the name of the group. We use this method for all four “Sales”, Manufacturing”, “Research,“, and “Education” (Regan, pp.427-428, 2006).

The first thing you want to do is access the domain, which in this scenario is ACMExx.COM. Once this communication has been established simple right click the domain and select the new option and select User. Once we have done this the New Object-User dialog box will appear allowing us to input the first name, middle initial, and last name. Using your first and middle intitial with your last name without spaces will be the User Logon Name. Once this is establish proceed to the next page of the process which should be a password dialog box. Enter the correct password, in this case PW, then enable the Password must change on next logon option. Then proceed to click the finish option (Regan, pp.428-429, 2006).

After the account has been created, right click on the account and select the properties option to input your description as domain administrator and your office as the server room. Next you will need to input all your information telephone number, email address, and any web page URLs you may have. Once this is complete add your address using the address tab by simply clicking the tab and inputting the address. Next the telephone tab to add all phone numbers, and last click on the Organization tab so you maty input administration for the title, IT for the department, Acme Corporation for the Company.
