Today’s modern market is made up of several types of businesses. They range from manufacturing, energy, product sales, and small entrepreneurships. These are just a small sample of today’s global economy. Managers play an integral part in today’s modern business. They coordinate activity with the hourly labor force, work with co-managers to follow company strategy and develop future interests in global markets. This paper will define each of these different aspects and conclude with the future of today’s business leaders.

What defines a good manager? Managers are notorious for being the slave drivers that get things done. This was the attitude many years ago. However, today, managers are hardworking business driven people. They generally will have the best interests for the company at hand. They have competitive personalities, are most knowledgeable in their field and they are very good innovators. This is different from what many would consider a leader. Leaders tend to be more motivators. Managers have good planning and decision making skills (Bateman & Snell, 2011). Leaders in business have to be professional and have a working relationship with their co-workers. These workers range from subordinates to upper level managers. In order to achieve attainable realistic results, professionals must be able to handle conflict, pressure and circumstance. Quick thinking is a valuable asset. In order to handle specific situations, a good manager can create a solution amongst process.

This reactive decision making process can pose to be disastrous. There is a lot of risk involve and can cause the company large amounts of dollars. According to Bateman and Snell, this option is not always recommended. Despite the standard norms of managerial decision making, managers must cognitive in their thinking.
