For all the employees who work for the Federal Government are under new regulations that all Federal agencies require each entities and/or organization to collect and document each employees training. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) requires the Human Resource department to input all the training into the OPM Government wide Electronic Data Collection System. It’s very important that all health care professionals keep themselves abreast due to the increasing rapidly and many changes in the medical field and public health. The physicians and nurses should learn about the latest treatments and options because they’re the first to treat their patients. Continuing education and training can be completed by online from colleges or universities, traditional studies from college or universities, or through their specialty departments, i.e. oncologist, cardiologist, pediatrician, or nursing websites. All Federal employees that accomplish their training online or traditional are required to take their information to the HR representative to have them post it in the OPM program.

The first thing in measuring the competencies is having a systematic process: Planning, Monitoring, Developing, Rating, and Rewarding. Planning means set and measure the goals, establish the communication and elements and standards. Monitoring is measuring performance, provide feedback, and conduct progress review. Developing is to address the below average performance and improve the good performance. Rating is to summarize performance and assign the rating of record. Rewarding is the final step in recognizing the employee and reward for excellence performance.
