CRITIC: MANAGEMENT GURUS

Frederick Winslow Taylor

He is considered as the father of scientific management. He believed that in the past the man has been first, in the future he stated however that the system must be first. He believed in this notion that the first object of any good system must be that of developing a first class man. Taylor grew up in the era of industrial revolution where the caste system and discrimination among the rich and poor are prevalent. During his time the people are looking for the best possible system to produce as many goods and be productive as possible without really considering the welfare of the workers. He was an innovator of scientific process a pioneer in several progressions.

He cited three major problems during the industrial revolution: human problem, social problem and political problem. He believed that workers are best motivated by better communication, more managerial involvement and working in teams. One of whom I admire most among the management gurus is Mayo. His insight of what the workplace will become because of work relationships is much of what is highlighted by workers nowadays in measuring job satisfaction.
