The internet has taken over as the primary source of media because of its constant availability. Although the internet offers fun features such as games, social networking and celebrity gossip; there are a variety of other things that the internet can assist with at the click of a button. In today’s world convenience is almost imperative as we are becoming busier in our everyday lives and we all are becoming more reliant on the internet because of just that. The internet offers time saving features such as researching things like appliances, electronics, schools and phone numbers. You also have the ability to pay bills, go to school, keep contact with distant family members on social networking websites, and keep up with current events and prominent news stories in the world among many other things. Even though the internet has some great features, there is a down side to having access to so much information. There is a lot of misinformation that you can find on the internet; especially when it comes to researching certain topics and current events. Being that the internet is accessible to everyone, It is very difficult to detect whether or not certain articles, journals or websites written are viable sources for information or even written by a reliable source. Not knowing whether or not the information that you have received online can be a bit much, particularly when you are researching a popular subject. This can then make the internet not seem as convenient because of information overload and having to sort through and determine what information is most accurate to use.
