TIM HORTONS

A communications objective can be to communicate a positive corporate image, not just product-oriented advertising but the company can implement advertising campaigns that benefit the company as a whole. Tim Hortons has put together a number of community involvement campaigns aimed at reinforcing their “good neighbour” image as part of their community and goodwill.

Tim Hortons community stretches from local initiatives to national programs, one of which is the Children’s Foundation which was established in 1974 to honour Tim Horton’s love for children and his desire to help those less fortunate. The foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization committed to providing a fun-filled camp environment for children from economically disadvantaged homes, this year serving over 13,000 children. This shows positive corporate image because Tim Hortons has shown care in helping disadvantaged children by providing opportunities for these children to develop into positive, contributing members of their communities. As far as local programs, Tim Hortons is proud to support local initiatives that make a difference. Some of which are the Timbits Minor Sports Program, Community Clean Up, Free Swim Program, Free Holiday Skating, Smile Cookie Program, Earn-a-Bike Program, and Halloween Safety Program. It is quite impressive on how Tim Hortons provides so many children the opportunity to play sports, help the community by cleaning up, reward free swimming and skating, raise money for charities, show kids responsibility by rewarding bikes in exchange for community service, and helping kids learn about safety.

Knowing that Tim Horton himself loved children, It’s no wonder they have so many local and national programs geared toward helping children.
