Addressing Challenges of Groups and Teams

There are many challenges that can be faced when dealing with group and team environments. The authors have been tasked with developing a plan that would help to increase a group or team’s motivation, satisfaction and performance. The members of Team A believe that by understanding the underlying principles of the group and team environment the company will be able to better mediate their way through the proposed project. Knowing what problems will arise and being able to effectively deal with those problems is key. Team A will expand on these attributes below.

Methods used for presentation of the organizational change

Kanungo (2001), “explains leader’s motive for transactional and transformational influence strategies and states that leaders are truly effective in achieving organizational objectives only when they are motivated by a concern for others” (pg. 260). These two types of influencing strategies aim to change attitudes and values as well as introduce rewards and sanctions to acquire a certain behavior and commitment from team members. The team must work together to be successful. One team member with a bad attitude can be toxic. All employees of the organization must be on board from the CEO to the lowest working employee.

“The combination of individual achievement, group success and shared values lead to high morale, effective teamwork and a high performance culture” (Sullivan, Sullivan, & Buffton, 2002, pg. 254). Management must express to all team members the importance of the organization change. Explaining how the change will benefit the organization as well as the employee can do this.

Training Development
