Network Design Proposal for United Staffing Solutions

Executive Summary

With the merger of North Eastern Staffing, Great Plains Personnel Services, and Pacific Career services into United Staffing Solutions, the existing networks of all three offices need to be almost completely reworked to allow the three offices to efficiently communicate and share data. This will allow United Staffing Solutions to quickly and accurately provide service to customers nationwide. This goal creates several requirements that the new network must meet.

The new corporate network must put in place servers and communication tools to seamlessly link the three separate offices together to allow employees to communicate and collaborate easily and securely. Systems must also be put in place to allow for the central location of company data, a necessary step to reduce the likelihood of disparate data between offices. At the same time, the new network must strive to not disrupt current business operations and minimize the number of changes to end user operations.

All three offices currently possess the basis of the new corporate network, including existing workstations, internal LAN, and some file servers. The goal of this project to is to add to this WAN connections and central servers and to install and configure the software necessary for existing workstations to operate within the redesigned company network. This does represent a signifigent investment, with the possibility of degrading employing work flow in the short term, but the added benefits to the company more than outweigh these cons.
