Abstract

When the war was over, there were still a lot of problems that needed to be solved in order for all of the states to reunite as a nation. During this time this is when the nation needed to be rebuilt and the Reconstruction period begun. The Reconstruction period had begun in 1865. The nation had to rebuild its economy. Industrialization brought in more factories and industries. The industries helped provide citizens with jobs.

America’s Post Civil War Growing Pains

The United States began with the thirteen colonies in the late eighteenth century. It struggled towards independence, the Declaration of Independence led to the American Revolution. The nation went through storms, politically and socially between the revolution against Britain and the American Civil War. The Civil War was followed by the reconstruction era. The reconstruction era changed the atmosphere that brough in an overall change that comes with growth.

During the reconstruction time period there were two major turning points women right and the fifteenth amendment. Before the reconstruction period women rights were ignored women was looked at as just property. While the Reconstruction period was going on it helped freed slaves, rebuild d the states, and it helped black women get rights. African American women fought for social equality for blacks. There were two writers that helped start the movement Anna Julia and Victoria Earle Matthews. When the thirteenth, fourteenth, and the fifteenth Amendment pass it lacked the mention of women, which caused the writers to for women liberation. The Reconstruction period had a different...
