First Week Assignment 2

I. Masking Poor Communication

Communication is a valuable skill one must possess in order to coincide with the world and people you meet in everyday life whether friend, family or co-workers etc. Having the lack of communication skills and its process can be very harmful and create a lot of confusion and hostile moments. My encounter I had with my Commander was a challenging confrontation between the two of us but yet we still handle it professionally on our level until our higher echelon got involve. This incident was something that happen for the first time since the both of us been in command; me as the 1SG and him as the Company Commander since Dec 2009.

It all started one day early in the week when we brief our leaders about the times we needed our soldiers who were firing at the range for weapons zero and qualification and where they need to be the following morning. Keep in mind the Commander is holding this meeting I’m just observing and making sure all leaders are present so therefore everyone in the meeting knew the plan and the times to have their soldiers in place the following morning to start firing and zeroing their weapons. After completing all of the training events for that day we had another meeting with the high echelon staff and that concluded with a final formation that evening. The next morning everything took a turn for the worst because in the military communication is a must without it failures mount up quickly and someone has to take the blame and this time I took it. I misunderstood my training guideline schedule but at the same time I wanted to make sure my soldiers had a chance to eat...
