Domain Name Checkpoint
There were two internet sources that I used to determine what domain name should be used for Free Flu, a nonprofit organization. Being a not for profit organization, it seemed logical to use .org although a .com domain name would gain more attention. For the difference in price and because .org designates Free Flue as a no-profit organization, it is the one I chose. I searched available domain names on two different websites, Go Daddy .com and Network Solutions .com. Go Daddy offers .org domain names at a rate of $6.95 per year and it comes with a variety of services and website design tools included for that price. Network Solutions offered an .org domain name at a rate of $4.95 but with only a fraction of the support. The name I chose to go with would be freeflushotforme.org and I verified it is available from both sites.
The site I would recommend would be Go Daddy for the price and tools available as well as web hosting is available for a small monthly fee. For just $8.99 a month a client would also have access to 150 GB of space, unlimited websites and bandwidth, 500 e-mail accounts, 25 MySQL databases at 1 GB each as well as $200 worth of advertising credits on Google, Bing, Yahoo, and Facebook combined. The site would also be fully compatible with Unix or Windows Operating System users.
