Executive Summary
This research paper examines the need for schools to use a technology plan. The paper will examine what the advantages are of using a plan. The paper will discuss several articles that will serve as examples of how technology plans have been implemented. Then, we will examine an example of a technology plan to see how to create one. The goal of the paper is to confirm and validate the reasons for using a plan and why one should be used before making any future technology purchases.
I. Strategy
A technology plan is a method of assessing where you are in technology and where you will be going in the future. It is about making an assessment of the current state of technology in order to make predictions of what the needs of the firm will be in the future. According to Bennett and Everhart (2003) is that administrators need to develop a technology plan in order to create a vision and to focus on student use of technology. They state that the focus should be a 10 point plan that seeks to evaluate how students use technology to deepen their understanding of the world. They outline 10 steps that can guide a school to create an effective technology program. Among these are:
