This paper is about Images of managing change. When change is apparent and eminent, there are different ways and strategies that can be used from a manager to help guide change. The reason why there are more one is because no manager is the same and thinks alike. These images are more of a general trait that a manager would exhibit when managing change. More than one image can be combined for strategy; it typically depends on the manager and the situation. A look into Intel Corporation will be used on how Craig Barrett was faced with some challenges and struggles on how to stay the leader in the semi-conductor industry but also to create a structure on how to operate going forward with staying ahead of the innovative curve. By incorporating various styles of the images, Barrett was able to guide Intel through dismal times and stay victorious throughout the process. Also, Barrett was able to play through his strengths to where his strategy was effective.
When Barrett was placed in power, most of all that was required was to maintain the legacy and good work of his predecessor. Intel had already been a power player and leader in its industry. With Intel’s knowledge and expertise, Barrett could expand the focus onto other endeavors that would benefit the company. Barrett initiated change by wanting to expand. The type of change would be classified as Change Manager as Director. Barrett had real intentions of taking Intel into new markets and being CEO allowed him to implement new goals and directions. Change Manager as Director allows top-management to take control and make changes within the organization in the goodness and interests of it. The change is directed and implemented to either avoid failure or to grow a business into new territory.
