Pervasive Development Disorders (PDD)

` The development of a healthy child is every parent’s optimism. Every parent has that early vision of their child being very successful and living a perfect life. While some parents dream are not what they hope for due to genetics and heredity. In recent studies done by scientist at the University of California show that since the early 1900’s parents that giving birth to infants have be said to have enormous risk of birth defects. With scientist opposing many theories to the occurrences of the health rates, the most common theories relate to genetics and other acquiring attributes through family nurture. Other theories of the cause of this disorder include; immune system problems, allergies, drugs, and environmental pollution. One of the most common child development disorders is referred to a PDD, also known a Pervasive Development Disorder.

This disorder is a group of neurological disorders that include autistic disorder, Asperger’s syndrome, childhood disintegrative disorder, Rett’s syndrome, and pervasive development disorder not otherwise specified (PDDNOS). About forty-five percent of children born in the United States are diagnosed with these disorders, and it is more common is boys. There disorders are characterized by delayed development in functional, socialization, and communication skills. With PDD becoming very high in awareness within the recent years, there have been many forms of proposed cures, but all have shown little effectiveness.

Pervasive development disorders was first used in the 1980’s to describe a group of neurological disorders that involved impaired social and communication skills and repetitive behaviors. After problems in precisely describing these disorders using the term pervasive development disorders, some neurological and psychiatric specialists have proposed new terminology to describe this group of disorders, including autistic spectrum disorders and multisystem disorders....
