Decisions in Paradise Part II

Now that Alex and I have had several meetings and discussed some of the issues that are going on in Kava, it is now the time to brainstorm and come up with solutions. The first thing we need to do is frame the problem. We need to identify what the problems are here in Kava and figure out what the solution is. We have established the problems areas are, weather disasters, sickness and disease. This is something our organization the CDC deals with and prepares for on a daily basis. So we need to now start brainstorming and start focusing on our decision making techniques.

The second step in the decision making process is defining criteria and goals. We need to set up a timeline to measure progress to make sure we are completing our goals. We can do this by creating charts, graphs, and cause and effect diagrams. Alex and I will set up weekly meetings to track our progress and create solutions for any issues that may arise. The last step is to evaluate the effect of the problem. We can do this by doing a SWOT analyses.

As we know Kava has been hit by many weather threats and disasters. These have debilitated this island and its people. The strengths of Kava are their people. They have persevered during these hard times and have banded together to help our team with rebuilding this island and making it sustainable. Strength of Kava are their resources, they have many resources that can be used for trade to build up their economy. Some weaknesses that are obvious are the condition of the island. Many of the inhabitants have been hit with disease and famine. Also some of the buildings have been torn down from the weather threats that have hit this island. This means there are many businesses that have shut down.
