* During this past week, Team B discussed each member’s individual values as well as each member’s work values. Sarah-Margaret mentioned a few values that she shares with her job’s values, which are integrity, accountability, and respect. Brandee agreed with those values and said that personal and work-related values are charity, community, discipline, family, loyalty, patience, and self-control. Karron states that her personal and work values encompass happiness, honesty, diversity, fairness to all, leading in its industry, and pushes employee teamwork. William states that his personal values include possessing courage and commitment. His work values regard fairness, diversification, fair treatment of others, and conducting business in an ethical manner. After reviewing each team member’s personal and work values, Team B has chosen Chick-Fil-A as the business it wants to compare values with since each are similar.

The source of individual and workplace values is developed from childhood. It is about how an individual was raised; what one was taught as a child in regard to the morals, values, and principles being taught the difference between ‘right and wrong’. Workplace values are developed from the owner(s) or CEO’s of the company; how these individuals believe will be the foundation of ethics for the company. The CEO’s/owners set the standards for the company. A prime example of this is with the Chick-Fil-A restaurant. The founder and owner, S. Truett Cathy, was raised with a Christian background. The principles and values Cathy learned as a child has carried over into the workplace.
