Unnecessary Exposure: We, as a society, have seen many forms of clothing worn over time. Whether it is the bell bottoms or the ripped jeans, the way we dress reflects who we are as a whole. Now there is nothing wrong with individuality, fashion trends, baggy pants, or underwear for that matter. But when someone’s unmentionables are clearly protruding out of their pants because of how low the pants are, there is a serious problem here. First, it is obvious that sagging pants down to the knees are uncomfortable for both the person wearing them and whoever witnesses this heinous crime. This is not a practical epidemic, because people waddle like ducks and make sure their hands are ready to hike their pants up just over the curve of their buttocks every time they start slipping. It’s positively infuriating to witness such an act of immorality because if an individual is unable to go about their daily lives without the need to pull up their pants every other second, then that’s just not normal. Second, this style of attire has its roots deep in vulgar means. It was never polite to display ones butt cheeks anywhere, so it has to be meant for a negative statement. It’s a throwback to being in jail where the guards would remove the prisoners’ belt to avoid it being use as a weapon or noose. This style was made mainstream by the rap culture, where the artists would rap about drugs or womanizing. By wearing pants low, people are making a crude statement about society. Clearly, it’s not cool, it’s not ‘sick’, it’s not comfortable, and it’s not necessary. People who walk around in baggy pants down to their knees with their boxers poking out are just making a fool of themselves.
