After doing some research I found a company in New York that uses voice over internet protocol for their company. Since VoIP uses the internet for connectivity to send voice signals out employees are able to take their work phones home and still have the same phone number that they have at work. All they simply have to do it plug it in to their internet at home. This increases productivity throughout the work environment because employees are still able to work when they are not at the office. In the article the CEO of Infinity Consulting Group LLC had to get employees to work from home because of a republican convention that was going on around the building. This convention made streets very crowded and made the employees of the company unable to access the building at a timely matter. Instead of having the employees take a week of vacation off, the CEO of the company had the employees take home there telephones and work from home, keeping the productivity at a satisfactory level. Without a VoIP system this would have not been possible because the phones would have had separate numbers then what the employees have at the office. This helps out the company in a big way. Infinity's New York offices are across the street from Madison Square Garden, and Lou Forino, the company's chief executive officer (CEO), decided that with the expected large crowds in that area it might be easier for employees to work at home or from other offices this week. "As the CEO of the company, I still want to get productivity this week," he said. "I don't want to send people on a week-long vacation." He also stated that 25 of the New York employees took home the VoIP phones and had no problems with them. This goes to show you how beneficial the VoIP service can be to a company that relies on communication throughout the company.
