Family values of South Asia have come a long way since the 1950’s, especially those of religion and decision-making. Back in the 1950’s, the true aspects of religion and decision-making were based on the ideas of perfection, trust and respect. Making decisions regarding important issues and aspects in life can be a very complicated and nerve-wrecking task. When one makes a decision, one not only affects ones future but also in a way affects the future of people who live around one or are some how related to one. Most of the decisions that one makes in life involve a lot of talking, thinking and experience. One talks to people one trusts or goes on and conducts a research on the costs and benefits of the decision one is planning to make. However, before one takes any in taking a decision one has to take into account the aspects of values of his or her family. These values consist of social, economic and religious aspects and the role that each one of them plays on different elements in life. Different geographic locations have different ways to tackle such elements and aspect. For example, one aspect or element in South Asia that would be considered important would hardly have any importance in the life of people in North America. After conducting a long study and research of different families, one tends to lean towards learning about how decisions are made in families in South Asia and how these decisions have changed over the last sixty years. The role of decision-making in South Asia deems to be set on two elements of life: social and economic. Social decision-making depends heavily on the role of gender and how the male gender has control of making decisions over certain aspects and likewise for the female gender. The economic vales of decision-making focus closely on how the male gender and the female gender play a role in making financial decisions in a family.
