Starbucks Coffee

Starbucks opened the first store in Seattle’ historic Pike Place Market in 1971 (Starbucks Corporation, 2010). “The Starbucks mission is to inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time” (Starbucks Corporation, 2010). Starbucks is one of the best known coffee houses in the world. Today there are more than 15,000 Starbucks coffee house in more than 50 countries (Starbucks Corporation, 2010). “Starbucks believes that conducting business ethically and striving to the right thing are vital to the success of the company” (Starbucks Corporation, 2010). Starbucks believes in doing the responsible thing for the planet and for each other (Starbucks Corporation, 2010).

Culture of Starbucks

The culture of Starbucks is for the company to be environmentally and people friendly. Starbucks is trying to find more ways to minimize their environmental footprint (Starbucks Corporation, 2010). They are doing this by recycling, conserving energy and by building Green (which is using responsible building materials and furnishings, in addition to energy and water-efficient measures) (Starbucks Corporation, 2010). Starbucks is testing ways to recycle all of the paper cups being used (Starbucks Corporation, 2010). Another plan for recycling is using reusable cups. Using reusable goods is an excellent way to recycle and help the environment. With all of the waste in the world every company or person who recycles will make the world a better place for future generations.

Communicating with their employees

Starbucks dedicates themselves to earning the trust and respect of their customers, partners and neighbors by being responsible and doing good things (Starbucks Corporation, 2010). The employees are called partners and help make decisions for the company by being involved.
