EXECUTIVE SUMMARY; In New Zealand, dairy industry have long been the main form of organization in the industry . Fonterra Co-operative Group Limited is a New Zealand based dairy business owned by almost 10,500 New Zealand farmers.[2] Fonterra owns 30% of the world’s dairy production.It is New Zealand’s largest company with revenues exceeding NZ$19.87 billion. The main target of Fonterra is to meet growing consumer demands for dairy products and dairy nutrition’s throughout the world. Fonterra is planning to set up dairy farms in India to help Indian farmers protect the domestic agriculture. With aspects to the international business theory, it is necessary to find if India will be a good and profitable choice to invest in? Fonterra is looking forward to export nutritious dairy products to India. The further analysis will show if India is lucrative option to invest? Also if there can be any other mode of entry to start trade with India.

INTRODUCTION; - The main intention of this study is to examine and know if the expansion of Fonterra, world trader in the dairy products industry, in a fast emerging country like India is favorable. This study involves different types of international tools mainly; the modes of entries suitable for Fonterra to start business in India. The dairy industry and market in India. The opportunities and risks that Fonterra would face in India. Operations and practices conducted in India related to trade. The market analysis which would mainly include the consumers, competitors and the shareholders of the company. Facing competition form the other dairy industries well established in India and serving the market for last 15 years. The strategies that Fonterra needs to keep in mind while doing business and trade in India. Also the different business opportunities that it needs to keep in mind once it enters the Indian market. The analysis will end with the conclusion of the study and the recommendations necessary.
