Professional Goals and Reason for Pursuing the Professional MBA Flex Program at FIU

Since I enrolled for my undergraduate studies, my perception of the dynamics involved in business changed greatly. I developed an interest in leadership, business strategic analysis discipline and organizational behavior. These have significantly influenced me to desire pursuing further studies in these areas so as to improve on the already acquired knowledge. My short-term goal of obtaining a position in the finance sector, coupled with my long-term goal of working as a business consultant, has prompted me to seek for a Professional MBA Flex program at FIU.

First, after studying about leadership in my undergraduate degree, I developed a passion to learn both the theoretical and practical application of leadership skills. I’m mostly intrigued by the words of John C Maxwell who noted that “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” I believe that I should equip myself with the necessary knowledge so as to know the way, go the way, and show others the way in any organization I work in. I know I possess the ability to lead; however, there are some skills I need to improve. I would say that the Professional MBA Flex program courses and seminars will help me to improve these skills and guide me to create a culture of success.

Second, my interest in identify business needs and determine solutions to business problems has encourage me to develop the business strategic analysis discipline. This discipline will help me to reach my long term goal of working as a business consultant. I am sure that the Competitive Strategy, the Business Analysis and Decision Making courses will improve my critical thinking and keep me focus on understanding the needs of the business.

Third, learning more about organizational behavior will help me to understand the impact that individuals, groups and structures have on behavior within an organization. I believe that a comfortable...
