Ethics in Criminal Justice

In our society the criminal justice systems main goal is to ensure public safety. At the professional stand point ethics and professional behavior in the administration play a major role in the success of the criminal justice system. The role of critical thinking go hand and hand in regards to the relationship of ethic and professional behavior. Although many aspect of the criminal justice system are positive there is room for improvement. Here a lay out of a seminar will be explored for more ideas on how to make the criminal justice system flawless.

In the criminal justice system the code of ethics plays a major role and is recognized as an organizational value system. The code of ethic educates and directs positive behavior for those who participate in the organization. Each participant take part in an initiation called the oath of office. This is basically when a person is sworn in to follow the law enforcement code of ethics. Not only does the law enforcement follow the code of ethics they also follow the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

In the criminal justice system ethics and the role it plays in the criminal justice system is also known as “The Law Enforcement Code of Ethics”. The following statement is the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics, According to "Law Enforcement Code Of Ethics" (2011), “As a law enforcement officer, my fundamental duty is to serve mankind; to safeguard lives and property; to protect the innocent against deception; the weak against oppression or intimidation; and the peaceful against violence or disorder; and to respect the Constitutional rights of all men to liberty, equality, and justice”. (1).
