Rizal in Singapore

A. He went around the town of Singapore and maid some observations. To visit the said country.

B.Donato Lecha-The ship captain, an affable man.

C. Rizal played chess with his fellow passengers who were much older than he defeated them many times, for he was a good chess player.

D.In Singapore, at 2 p.m., Rizal boarded the boat Djemnah to continue his trip to Spain. He found the boat clean and well kept.

Rizal in Barcelona;

A. To visit the said country.

C. Rizal’s first impression to Barcelona was very bad, but when he saw it he liked the city very much.

D. His article "Amor Patrio" was published in the Diarong Tagalog, a Manila newspaper edited by Basilio Teodoro. This was the First article he wrote abroad.

Rizal in Madrid;

A. To study the two courses-Medicine and Philosophy and Letters. He also studied Painting and sculpture in the Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando.

B. Dr. Dominador Gomez – secretary of Association Hispano – Filipina.

Jose Ma. Panganiban – his friend and his talented co-worker in the propaganda.

Wenceslao E. Retana:

– The bitter enemy of Rizal in Pen.

– A talented Spanish scholar was then a press agent of the friars in Spain.

– Used to attack the Filipinos, including Rizal, in various newspapers in Madrid.

C. In a letter Rizal appraised his brother Paciano of his activities in Madrid, his impressions of the city and his meeting with his friends in gathering. In part he said: "The Tuesday of the Carnival we had a Filipino luncheon and dinner in the house of the Pateros, each one contributing one duro. We ate with our hands, boiled rice, chicken adobo, fried fish and roast pig. Rizal recollected his past impressions when he left his hometown Calamba. This day he attended a fiesta in Madrid.
