Group communication differs from individual communication because when speaking within a group there is more than one person and everybody needs to be considerate of the next person when speaking, everybody cannot speak at once. Individual communication deals one on one and it easier to know when to speak when the other person is done speaking.

Group communication is the process of speaking to a group of people through verbal or non verbal communication. Verbal communication can be lead through speaking and the style of speaking and non verbal can be lead by body language or posture. Verbal and non verbal communicating has different styles of communicating that are very effective in group communication.

Strategies to promote group communicating are to understand the group and what the group has to offer and to identify the task or the problem. Generate solutions and ideas to better communicate the group. Strategies to promote individual communicating are to be conscious of the points that are needed to know and listen carefully. Write down key points that affect deadlines or how the work will be evaluated and don’t ignore instructions that you may think is unnecessary.

Having ideas, making sure all information is correct, discover the needs of each person, buying time with limited agreement, check for inferences and feelings, repair negative feelings and paraphrasing should alleviate any disagreements.

I believe having someone who is fair and loyal be a leader to further guide the group in stimulating discussions and points to better everybody’s ideas to promote creativity amongst the group.
