Executive Summary

This article was written to outline the leadership in organizational behavior for the employees in Dell Penang and from per my own personal view. I have summarized the leadership model on the actions and behavior of a leader based on general expectation from the employees that I have compiled in my interview & focus group from selected managers or leaders in Dell Penang.

My findings for the model have grouped the common actions & behaviors into 3 categories that are “Engage, Execute & Excel”. Each categories represent different type of leadership required to associate to different actions. For “Engage & Execute” its leadership nature is transactional most of the time and for “Excel” it is transformational.

The best practice for modern leadership is the approach of each leader must be situational or contingency either in transactional or transformation depends on the situation or the environment that allows it. There are non existences of leadership when substitutes or neutralizers are present to offset the influences of the leader.

My summary of the modern leadership is that there is no absolute leadership for any kind of situation, it depends on the experience of the leader to exercise the most effective ways in its actions to best use the different type of leadership. A leader is always a change agent where they are flexible to adopt the right thing to do.
