Not Me

Your high heels sound hollow as they hit the pavement. The rain muffles the sound of cars passing by. The light seems to dim as you continue down the alley on the way home. You’ve walked home this way a hundred times before, but tonight feels different…you feel you’re being followed.

Getting to the door you can hardly see the key to open the gate. As you struggle with nerves, the weather, keys, and the gate, you hear footsteps!!!!! The sound is covered by the lighting strikes. Once the door is open you turn quickly to see if anyone is there and make a mad dash thru the gate. It helps to shake off the eerie feeling of being followed and the chilling rain. Once thru the gate, you pull it closed and give it an extra push to make sure it’s locked. With a final look, you take a deep breath and start up the stairs the apartment.

Your apartment is on the 5th floor. When the car arrives, you take two more deep breaths and you begin to relax even more. As the door begins to close, you hear the foot step return…this time; they are quickly going up the stairs. A few moments later, the car arrives on your floor and you make a dash to get into the apartment.

Feeling safe inside the apartment, you get undress, put on some water for hot chocolate, light some candles, and run a hot herbal bath. This is your tried and true relaxation ritual. Adding some Celtic music and the stage is set. Just as you start to unwind, the music stops. Suddenly, you can feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Anticipating the music to start back again is unnerving, and when it doesn't, there’s an unbelievable pull to investigate the situation. Stepping out of the tub, you catch a figure move out the corner of her eye. Not sure what you saw, but that’s nothing unusual as the resident spirits are always moving around…maybe they turned off the music????
