The Honda Accord is one of the most popular automobiles in the United States. In fact, with approximately 10 million units sold as of 2009, the Accord is one of the most popular cars in American history. The model has been one of the top five best selling automobiles in the United States for more than twenty years and Car and Driver Magazine named it to their 10 Best list 21 times.

History
The Honda Accord made its debut during America's bicentennial year of 1976. The name was chosen to acknowledge its parent company's commitment to harmony through technology. At the time it was introduced, the Accord was a step up from its predecessor, the small but economical Honda Civic, but it still featured a wheelbase that was smaller than the company's sub-compact, the Honda Fit.
Features
When it was introduced in 1976, the Honda Accord was a three-door hatchback. It sported a 1.6 liter aluminum engine that cranked out 68 horsepower, a standard five-speed manual transmission, AM/FM radio, and remote hatch release. The Accord was considerably more sporty than the Civic, and came with an economical $3,995 price tag.
