Using my knowledge to improve a webpage

The website I am going to evaluate is Amazon.com. Overall this website is well designed. The site uses large icons for the navigation links on the front page. On the top of the webpage is the search bar that goes across most of the page. On the right side are large icons for links to the user’s account, the cart, and the wish list. Below that there are best seller lists in different categories. On the left side there is a links bar for every department with drop links for more specific categories within the links menu. The middle of the page is recommendations based off of previous searches. The page uses full color photos for the products on the page. This is good so the user knows exactly what the product is that they are looking for.

I looked at the source code for the home page; the first thing that I noticed was the large amount of code that goes into just the home page of this site. I saw the section where it has code that connects it to Google. I saw what keywords a user can enter in the Google search that will bring up Amazon in the search. I also noticed in the code that that site is heavily designed using CSS. The code they use for the search box is the largest section of code on the site. The search function also works very well. Whatever I have searched for has come up in the search in on the first try. Once you get to the search results they can be sorted in many different ways so that the user can find the product as quickly as possible. The site design is user friendly with good looking links, pictures, and overall layout.

There are some areas of the site that could use some improvement. The first thing that I would change is the product descriptions. This site sells various computer and electronic items. When you choose an item and look at the description it is very limited with the information that is provided. This is not good for the user if...
