1. The name of the professional association is the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

2. The purpose of the professional association is to:

* Build and sustain partnerships with human resource professionals, media, governments, non-governmental organizations, businesses and academic institutions to address people management challenges that influence the effectiveness and sustainability of their organizations and communities.

* Provide a community for human resource professionals, media, governments, non-governmental organizations, businesses and academic institutions to share expertise and create innovative solutions on people management issues.

* Proactively provide thought leadership, education and research to human resource professionals, media, governments, non-governmental organizations, businesses and academic institutions.

* Serve as an advocate to ensure that policy makers, law makers and regulators are aware of key people concerns facing organizations and the human resource profession.

3. This is an international association.

4. The annual membership fee to join the association is $180 and $95 internet only fee for people outside the United States.

5. There is no student discount for membership.

6. The educational and professional development activities offered to members are Organization Training and Development Programs, E-Learning, Global Learning System, Assurance of Learning Assessment, Certification, Seminars, Webcasts, Executive Education and Essentials of HR Management.

7. The professional magazine and journal subscriptions that are offered to members are HR Magazine, HR Week, Supervisory Newsletter and Discipline Specific E-Newsletter.

8. The networking opportunities offered to members is SHRM Connect, HR Talk, Volunteer Opportunities and Member Directory.
