The objective of this course is to introduce the theory of financial management to the students. At the end of the course the students should be able to understand the concepts of time value of money, risk and return relationship, valuation of stocks and bonds, cost of capital, and capital budgeting decisions, capital structure decisions, and working capital management. The students will be expected to compute numerical exercise in class to get a better understanding of the underlying concepts of various financial tools.

The students will be graded based on the performance in three equally weighted tests. Home works will be assigned every week for practice purpose.

All home works will be assigned in class and will be due by the next class.

Students are expected to know the use of a financial calculator and bring the calculator in class.

The text book for the course is Fundamentals of Financial Management, by Brigham and Houston, 13th edition. You will need a financial calculator for this class. I recommend Texas Instrument BA II Plus.

The course schedule is as follows, but may be modified as the class progresses. All modifications of the syllabus will be announced in class.
