Here and Now

While looking at the pictures we took last summer and having pleasant flashbacks, I’d wished I spent more days of our vacation in the U.S. I remembered the balmy sun, the cool wind finding its way to make you chill even through the warmest sweater you wear. I reminisced about the huge buildings in Times Square making your head tilt in an unsafe angle upward and the salty scent of Lake Michigan. I wouldn’t forget the queer metallic bean-shaped architecture in Chicago. Just remembering the hot ambience of San Francisco, California and Miami, Florida is making me sweat.

The MASSIVE constructions in Arizona by nature, The Grand Canons, are simply breathtaking. The Statue of Liberty placed in the seas of New York made me wonder what the heck was inside the heads of French people. Making such a detailed statue is unbelievable. The festive lights and enormous rides of Las Vegas set aside my troubled mood. I find the icy mountains of Upstate as one of my favorites, because it’s where I held snow for the first time. And finally, the beautiful pink cherry blossoms of New Jersey, a gift from Japan, were more than enough to make me feel tranquil.

We’ve traveled far, adjusted to different time zones, saw a lot of places and I’m so grateful for what our God had shown us. Many things were revealed, some are better left hidden and a LOT of places waiting for people to be seen. Yeah, you can say that America, The Land of the Free, is our place of unperturbed paradise, when truly my unforgettable place is here, in Qatar.

To those who are reading up to this part, “Really?”, “why Qatar?” or “how come?” are probably the questions popping into your minds right now. I know, I know, Qatar is this little ink blot in the World Map. People can barely notice it, if it wasn’t for the big red dot and the country’s name saying “Qatar” in bold. So how can it possibly be my unforgettable place? It’s pretty much a barren country.
