Audience Analysis Paper

Communication skills are important when you are trying to convey information. There are many forms of verbal and nonverbal communication channels. There are many things to consider when you are addressing an audience. This paper addresses the characteristics of an audience to consider, appropriate communication channels, considerations to consider regarding the diversity of the audience, and how to ensure the message an effective message. In this paper we analyze an audience of stakeholders, managers, salespeople, customers and discuss ways to deliver an effective message regarding our companies declining sales for the quarter.

Knowing your audience is key to delivering a successful message. What do we know about the audience? We know stakeholders will be there. Stakeholders are what are keeping our company going. They trust us and are investing in our company. Stakeholders think in terms of profits. When we address our declining sales we need to address what this means to our stakeholders. We need to assure them that our company has plans to increase our sales. Explaining the future of the company will give them a sense of security. This message will be far more effective if done in person. Providing actual facts and numbers which include our goals for the upcoming quarter will demonstrate we have a plan for the future. When we address the managers and sales people we need to keep in mind they are the middle people in our company and need to listen to their concerns. Listening and addressing some of their concerns will help the company grow. We know they are dedicated and hard workers. Most of them have been with the company for 10-15 years. They are concerned about the future if the company but most importantly they want to know if they are going to have a job or not. When we address them we need to also show sincerity and explain that layoffs are a possibility. In our meeting we could thank them for their hard work...
